Sketch is part of Myron Abbott's 1882 journal; early life in Illinois; conversion to Mormonism, 1839; temporal mission to gather funds to build the Nauvoo Temple; mission to Wisconsin; marriage to Abigail Smith; after his death, her plural marriage to James Brown; enlistment of James Brown in the Mormon Battalion; exodus west; arrival in Salt Lake Valley, 1849; settlement in Ogden, Utah on a tract of land purchased from the Mexican government.
